Proxy Types

Understanding the different proxy protocols and session types available on PepeProxy.

Protocols

PepeProxy offers two protocol options to suit different use cases. Choose the protocol that best matches your application requirements.

HTTP/HTTPS

Standard web traffic protocol, compatible with most applications and libraries.

Common Use Cases:

  • Web scraping
  • API calls
  • Browser automation
  • General web requests

When to Use:

  • You’re making standard web requests or API calls
  • Your library/framework has built-in HTTP proxy support (requests, axios, fetch, etc.)
  • You need browser compatibility for web scraping
  • You want the simplest setup with widest compatibility

SOCKS5

Lower-level protocol supporting any type of traffic, not just HTTP.

Common Use Cases:

  • P2P applications
  • Email clients
  • Non-HTTP protocols
  • Advanced use cases

When to Use:

  • You need to proxy non-HTTP traffic (FTP, SMTP, etc.)
  • Your application requires low-level network access
  • You’re working with P2P protocols
  • You need maximum flexibility and control

Session Types

Session types determine how long your proxy maintains the same IP address. Choose based on whether you need consistency or variety.

Rotating Sessions

IP address changes automatically with each request.

Benefits:

  • Ideal for high-volume scraping
  • Harder to detect and block
  • Fresh IP for every request
  • Best for distributed tasks

Use Cases:

  • Price monitoring
  • Market research
  • Data aggregation
  • SEO monitoring

Sticky Sessions

Maintains the same IP address for a specified duration (1-20 minutes).

Benefits:

  • Consistent session identity
  • Supports authentication flows
  • Stateful operations
  • Social media management

Use Cases:

  • Account management
  • Shopping cart sessions
  • Login flows
  • Form submissions

Sticky Session Duration

When generating sticky proxies, you can specify how long the IP should remain fixed:

  • Minimum: 1 minute
  • Maximum: 20 minutes
  • Recommended: 5-10 minutes for most use cases

After the duration expires, a new request will receive a different IP address. This allows you to balance between session consistency and IP variety.

Host Locations

PepeProxy proxy servers are located in multiple regions to optimize performance:

  • DE (Germany): Best for European traffic and general use
  • CIS Region: Optimized for Eastern European and Central Asian traffic
  • US (United States): Best for North American traffic

Choose the host location closest to your target websites or your physical location for optimal latency. The host location does not affect the residential IP location - you can still target any country regardless of host.
